Protective Orders

Every family member should feel safe from members of their family.  In Texas, adults can seek a “protective order” for their protection (or for the protection of any member of their family) from a person who has committed family violence. This protection can extend beyond a formal family and also protect individuals in a dating relationship. No one should have to suffer physical harm, assault, or sexual assault at the hands of another, and no one should have to live in fear. If you or your children are in imminent danger, call the police. If the danger is not imminent, but you are in a violent relationship, or you fear for your safety or your children’s safety, or if you have been wrongfully accused of family violence, call Gardner & Smith for a confidential conversation about how we may help.
